GLIAS is currently looking for a volunteer the following position:

• Sales officer: following the appointment of its sales officer to an important job on the history of the gas industry GLIAS has an immediate vacancy for this position. The duties include the sale of the society's, and other, publications at IA events, eg SERIAC and the AIA conference, and, hopefully, at lecture meetings. The ability to transport stocks of publications to venues is therefore an important qualification. While there are certain minimum requirements, which can be discussed with applicants, it is also a job which is what the holder makes of it. The position carries ex officio membership of the executive committee. The position is currently vacant and the successful candidate can take it up immediately on appointment.

Tebbutt Research Fund

Grants are available towards research into any aspect of the Wealden Iron Industry or subjects pertaining to it. Applicants may be individuals or groups, and the application can include any associated expenses, such as travelling and photocopying. It is anticipated that some £500 plus will be available from the fund. The applicant should write a letter giving details of themselves together with relevant information concerning the research envisaged.
